Important Information and Next Steps for Geodata.gov and Geospatial One-Stop Publishers:
On September 30, Geo.Data.gov went live within Data.gov. This evolution of the former Geospatial One-Stop and Geodata.gov project will continue to build upon capabilities to enhance the discovery and use of governmental geospatial data. From September 30, Geo.Data.gov is the place to manage your existing Geodata.gov content and harvests. The way you view data and access services should be very similar to what you were used to in Geodata.gov.
Things to Expect With Geo.Data.gov
- All of your Geodata.gov content has been migrated to the new site. However, not all content is available today through the Geo.Data.gov filtered search, which shows only agency approved Federal records.
- All of your Geodata.gov harvest configurations have been migrated.
- Your Geodata.gov user account has been migrated.
- You will need to “reconnect” your Geodata.gov account by resetting your password in Geo.Data.gov (see the instructions below).
- Over the next two weeks, the Data.gov team will contact you to assist with turning back on your harvests, which will be off starting September 30.
- The ability to search non-Federal records will be made available in the near future.
Steps to “Reconnect” Your Account
- After September 30, go to Geo.Data.gov.
- Click on “Login” in the top right hand corner.
- Click on “Forgot Password” next to the Login button.
- Enter your Geodata.gov username and your email address.
- You will receive an email at the account you are registered in on Geodata.gov to reset your password.
Turning Your Harvests Back On
Since we have over 450 publishers, we do not want to re-establish harvesting at one time. We have disabled harvesting to enable a staggered approach in which we will contact you and discuss turning on your harvest again over the next two weeks. If you have an immediate priority to publish a dataset to Geo.Data.gov, please contact us at Geodata@usgs.gov and we will support your priority.
If you have any other questions about publishing to Geo.Data.gov, the evolution of Geospatial One-Stop, please let us know at
Geodata@usgs.gov.
Thank you.
