Ecosystem and Biodiversity Data: The Foundations for Environmental Research, Management and Conservation

In celebration of Earth Day (April 22), we highlight the role that data on ecosystems, ecosystem services and biodiversity play in facilitating research, management and conservation of natural resources and the environment. The Ecosystems theme of Data.gov highlights interagency collaborations for sharing and dissemination of data on ecosystems, ecosystem services, and biodiversity, and it provides access to descriptions (metadata) of scientific data resulting from federal programs and research activities. To learn more about these data, visit http://ecosystems.data.gov.
