The White House has made strides when it comes to embracing technology, Obama said, pointing to his appointment of the nation’s first chief technology officer, opening up federal data via Data.gov (above) and sites like We the People, as well as the elimination of duplicative systems.

But Washington is not yet a well-oiled technology machine; “I had to fight really hard just to keep my BlackBerry” after taking office, Obama joked.

“We’ve made some good progress on all fronts, but now we need to do more,” he said.
